Effective January 22, 2008 the Duke International Travel Policy applies to all international travel that is sponsored by, funded in any part by, or involves the granting of degree credits by Duke.

Language Data

There are approximately twenty five different languages being taught at Duke.  They include ArabicBalto-Finnic, Chinese, French,,German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian,  Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Pashto, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, RussianSerbian and Croatian, Spanish,  Turkish, Wolof, Yiddish and Yucatec-Maya.

In addition, the English for International Students (EIS) Program was created by the Graduate School to help international students improve their speaking and writing skills and prepare for greater success in their academic work. The program offers two courses: oral communication and academic writing. The Graduate School recognizes how important it is for international students to have strong language skills and these courses receive the same credit as courses in the disciplines.
