Duke's current Strategic Plan, Making a Difference, lists internationalization as one of its four "Enduring Themes." and each of the nine Duke schools' plans includes a description of their broad and effective steps to internationalize course offerings and to expand the opportunities for international experiences, on campus and abroad.

Teaching and training stand at the center of Duke University’s internationalization efforts. Strong international and area studies initiatives in the graduate and professional schools complement Duke’s undergraduate efforts and multiple interdisciplinary centers and programs further enhance Duke's strength in this arena.
